Job Description Seeking a Construction Safety Specialist to support field safety compliance and inspections across large construction, infrastructure, utility, and transportation projects. This role focuses on identifying risks, ensuring OSHA compliance, and promoting a proactive safety culture, including during nighttime and high-risk operations.
Pay: $60.00 - $70.00 per hour
Key Responsibilities: - Inspect construction activities for OSHA compliance and adherence to project safety plans
- Monitor contractor compliance with Hazard Analyses and Safe Work Plans
- Identify unsafe conditions; ensure corrective actions; stop work when necessary
- Conduct daily walkthroughs and documented safety audits
- Monitor excavation, fall protection, crane/rigging, confined space, and electrical work
- Participate in incident investigations and root cause analysis
- Verify contractor training, certifications, and pre-task plans
- Monitor nighttime operations, including roadway closures and traffic control
- Prepare daily safety reports and track compliance metrics
- Promote safety culture through mentoring, coaching, and stand-downs
Required Qualifications: - High School Diploma or GED
- 10+ years of construction safety experience, including field inspection and compliance
- Strong knowledge of OSHA Construction Standards (29 CFR 1926)
- Experience with large construction, infrastructure, utility, or transportation projects
- Experience conducting safety audits, investigations, and inspections
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic safety management systems
- Valid driver's license
Preferred Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field
- OSHA 500/510, CHST, CSP, ASP, CSHO, or equivalent certification
- Experience with owner-led construction management programs
- First Aid, CPR, and AED certification
